For a lover of roses, an artist can do no better than to visit and paint in the Portland International Rose Test Garden. This painting is the result of an outing with fellow artist, Talya Johnson and other artist friends from the Portland, OR area. In spite of the intense heat on the sweltering summer day, we were rewarded with heavenly beauty and aromas as these vibrant blossoms cooked on their stems. I am thankful for the photos I took that day as they allowed me to paint this piece at a later date and enjoy the experience all over again in the middle of winter... like saving a morsel of good chocolate for a rainy day, painting color and warmth in the dead of winter is so very therapeutic.
