Artist's Description

My visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium continues to infuse my imagination... This rather dashing starfish snuck into my sketchbook one evening as I pondered all the wonderful creatures that filled the aquarium. It's such an incredible world that lives beneath the waves.... these watery thoughts keep floating through my mind... Hmmm :) I love it when a theme invades my imagination like this and brews lovely little gems of creativity.

I love how the ocean has ancient ties to human history and how important a role it has played throughout it. This distressed version of my seashell drawing is a nod to times past where curious artists were the on the front lines of scientific exploration and documentation. Drawings like this one may have populated the tattered, well-traveled pages of an adventurer's journal. :)

Thanks for looking!
-Karen
