On a painting trip to Hood River, Oregon we visited the Gorge White House. It is a beautiful historical Dutch Colonial home built in 1910. Surrounded by a beautiful perennial garden, a wonderful u-pick flower field, and endless orchards, the picturesque setting is inspiration enough for a thousand paintings. Here I was captivated by a stand of cone flowers whose tall stems waved playfully in a light breeze. Their petals swayed in and out of the sunlight adding an element of challenge to the task of painting them from life. "Healing Light" is a painting completed from my original plein air(open air) study.
