Description
"Jaidyn Reading a Book 2" - Portrait of Woman by Karen Whitworth
What a treat to paint from life! This painting was started during a model session in my home. The model catered to my fussing over the fabric and folds, fiddling with the flowers until they were "just right"... I wanted the scene to speak to the viewer on many levels, the formal nature of her costume, the casual pose that implies she has lost herself in the book she's reading. So many stories lie within. :) Thanks for looking!
Are you interested in having me paint a portrait for you? Send me a message! I would love to chat with you about it!

We discussed you art in my art class at Southern New Hampshire University. We are discussing rococo and neoclassical art and compared this contemorary or modern piece to the rococo classic girl sitting in the chair reading. great work its beautiful.

Love the soft and warm tones of this painting for it really helps invoke the feeling of a cozy corner: one that is comfortable to take a seat, take off the shoes, and read a good book. From her posture and her expression, she is comfortably settled in and absorbed in the book she is reading. L/F
